Rag Rug
The making is simple but time consuming.
The result is worth it. :)
Cut tons of 2 inch strips of material then sew them in rows onto and old hand towel.
Create A Wipe Off Board/Jewelry Holder
I made this board out of an old frame and scrap material left over from a quilt I made a couple years ago.

The Strawberry Kitchen
Stephen and I moved into a new apartment and I've been basking in the joy of decorating.
Here is a before and after of our kitchen.

I took the middle cabinet doors off so I could display my china on the top shelf. The gingham curtains a made from scrap material left over from an apron.
This bookshelf used to be black. Now it's another kitchen cabinet.
I'm using our Trifle bowl as a spice holder for now until I can fill it with chocolate.
A handkerchief from an antique store.
From Old to Older
In our bedroom we had an orange cedar chest of drawers that was Stephens. (I painted it white soon after our marriage because it looked capable of causing bad dreams.) We also had a little, brown child's size chest of drawers that I used as a nightstand. For Stephen's side of the bed we picked up a wooden nightstand at Goodwill. With some paint a screwdriver and sandpaper we now have coordinating furniture in a rustic vintage style that matches the decor of our bedroom.

I added a crystal handle

The Older the Better
I love vintage! Everyone that knows me knows I should have lived in the 40's and am sad that I did not. Our bedroom has a sweet vintage style to it. Here are some things that I pulled out of the hope chest to decorate it with.
Hand embroidered pillowcases from my great aunt and a quilt top I never quilted.

Valentine Cheesecake
This was our Valentine Chocolate Chip Cheesecake. It came out wonderful. I used some tips I found in the Kitchen Bible about making cheesecakes and it made a huge difference. You separate the eggs. Beat the egg whites together until still and fold them into your batter at the end. Add the egg yellows as usual. It makes it very fluffy and creamy.

Skirt Makeover
I took two hand me down skirts and made them into one I enjoy wearing. It has pockets! They are my new best friends. I can't tell you how much I enjoy wearing a skirt with pockets. :)
Here you can see where I attached the brown ruffle to the underskirt.
I drew the flower onto the material with a pencil then embroidered over it.
By drawing the stitches tighter than they should have been at the pocket I made a little ruffled edge.
